Wool-Pile
Our Wool-Pile ( Hospital Nursing Fleece) is created from wool, shorn from
fine wool Australian sheep. The wool is cleaned
after shearing, combed and then knitted into a backing material; using
the sliverknit process. Not all " wool-pile " in the market place is
made from pure new wool. Down-Under Wool only sells the highest quality
pure wool-pile products available.
Wool-pile is an excellent alternative to sheepskin. The advantage
that it has over sheepskin is that it can be up to 60" wide and as long as
needed. It is machine washable and because it is made from Superwash Wool, can be safely placed in the dryer.
Some of our products have a breathable, waterproof membrane bonded to
their back surface. This makes them suitable for use by incontinent
clients; protecting the mattress or wheelchair. Urine will not damage
wool-pile but will permanently damage most sheepskins. The only
sheepskins not damaged by urine are the
Australian HiTemp UR Medical Sheepskins.

pads is that they give complete body protection and they allow the user
complete freedom to move while being protected at all times. Our
Hospital Nursing Fleeces are produced for
hospital beds- available today. See F102 below.
Some of our customers use our Nursing Fleece Pads( F103A and F103B)
as client transfer pads. They are machine washable, strong and protect
the client from skin abrasion and tears.

Easy Care- just shake and air !
Underlays benefit from being
aired regularly ( possibly when the sheets are changed). Generally,
that's about all the care they need to keep them at their comfortable
best for years. However, if necessary, they can be dry cleaned. Allow at
least 24 hours airing afterwards. Alternatively, they can be washed in a
LARGE front-loading machine on a gentle cool/wool cycle; using
Woolskin. After a short, gentle spin,
allow to dry naturally in a well ventilated area.
DO NOT tumble dry. Heat or
agitation will damage the wool and must be avoided during the cleaning
process. Agitation causes felting of the wool and the loft will be
reduced.
